Before the Women’s Month endS, here’s a little tribute to the top performing female runners of the recent 6th edition All-Women Ultramarathon 2017.

However we want it to be there is man-and-woman equality, but being a woman is always an extra challenging role to have especially when it comes to being competitive and aggressive. And, it’s one of the reasons why I cannot NOT love All-Women Ultramarathon; it’s the venue where women can be aggressive, roaring, but at the same time be “kikay” or whatever touch of girly-ness they wanted it to be.

So here’s a special shoutout to the top runners of the All-Women Ultramarathon 2017 because these women had to do extra hardwork on top of career, motherhood, family errands, and all of the above to be on top shape for the race day.

The Top 3 spots of the AWUM 2017 podium are ruled by the Spectrum Runners:

SPECTRUM RUNNERS

1. LIZANE ABELLA – 4:30:32. She’s a new record holder of the fastest time of AWUM (though this is a different route) on her first try. She’s also a recent podium finisher of the last MILO Nationals Marathon.

2. SANDRA SOLIANO – 4:44:12. She’s a consistent podium finisher of AWUM ever since she started joining it on the 2nd edition, [Edited] and had the AWUM Crown in 2015.

3. PRECIOSA SANCHEZ – 4:59:01. She’s the AWUM Queen 2016. But she’s probably equally happy to gave her crown to her group mate.

10. RHODA OPORTO 5:18:31. This woman has been champion-ing ultramarathon races — like she just recently won the 2nd Runner-Up in the female category of the 2017/3rd Manila To Baguio 250K Ultra Marathon Race just less than a month from the AWUM 2017. But she still has to get the AWUM Queen crown.

20. LORNA AMOR 5:45:11. And to round up the top 20 finisher is best represented by this running doctor who is photogenic in all angle: front or “talikod.”

And, also special shoutout to these last strongest women running who happens to be all my friends: Tech Ann, Wena, Stacey, and the rest. If it’s hard to finish an ultramarathon as the fastest, it can be harder to finish it the longest.
