Before 2014 ends, I DNF’ed (did not finish) / quit from organizing Runnilla Eco Challenge 2015. It’s been a month, and we have not made any official statement about it because I thought, well, there’s probably us and a few friends who knew about the race so nobody would really know it’s cancelled or what. But then from time to time, I’d get a few messages asking why. Call me pathetic “emo,” but there’s a little pinch of pain every time I think about it and of thinking of writing an official announcement so as not to misguide other interested individuals. So instead let me write about the Retreat House (located in Can-ukban, Oslob, Cebu), I retreated to after cancelling the event. (If you’re interested to visit and stay in this place, *contact information below.)

For others, Oslob, Cebu may always be about “butanding” (whale sharks) and the Tumalog falls. But if you go further up from Tumalog Falls, you can find 3 or more retreat houses managed by priests and nuns.
Or, you can just simply have good joy ride up into the mountains of Oslob, Cebu.
If you’re a biker or a runner or simply an outdoor lover, you’ll definitely have a good scratch for your adventure itch:
from trekking the barangay roads…
to footpaths…
to “summiting” little peaks, and pitching up a tent. And, when you wake up…
…you have all those tiny and not-so tiny hills and rivers to trek. Or, maybe just sit down, let the world pass by and just get drunk with the viewty-ful God’s gift.
Or, get up and shout at the top of your lungs: FREEDOM!
For those interested to stay in the Retreat House in Can-ucban, Oslob, Cebu, it’s run by Sister Felice of Franciscan order. Note that it provides very basic accommodation.
(I don’t have a decent photo of Sister Felice.)
But aircon not needed because it’s pretty cool the entire day. I mean if you’re from the tropics, having a 24 degrees at noon time is already cold.
And, the nights can be extra chilly especially when you go there during “colder” season, perfect for chilling around a bonfire. =)
The basic of all basic is that for your water supply, you need to trek to the community’s well. FUN!
*Sister Felice’ Retreat House, Can-ucban, Oslob contact information: Celia Buenconsejo, 0916 730 0845
(It’s actually my MIL’s contact number because they don’t have celphone signal at the retreat house. Sister Felice has an ongoing tree planting / farming project, so she welcomes seedlings / seeds.)
