“Recreational Outdoor eXchange is Filipino-owned and managed by people who has a passion for the outdoors. R.O.X. is one of the leading provider of outdoor experience, building a community of outdoor enthusiasts strongly advocating environmental conservation.” – R.O.X. Philippines

True to its core of OUTDOOR ADVENTURE, R.O.X. Philippines’s team are made of nature-tripper adventure-lover individuals to properly assist individuals in their adventure needs! In the following Q&A, let’s meet this adventure enthusiast marketing person of ROX, Jane Dumaug (JD)!

Runroo: What’s your earliest memory of outdoors?

I have to say canoeing just outside our house. I was born wherein the sea is my playground. I love to go on a canoeing ride with my cousins, then we would jump in the middle of nowhere and check out the colorful fishes.

Runroo: How it is to be working in R.O.X.?

JD: When I joined R.O.X. in 2011, I began to imbibe more to the outdoor and active lifestyle. I started out in joining fun runs then went into hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing.

The thing about getting outdoors are the people the you will meet, the things that you will learn about yourself; you will appreciate more the environment upon seeing the breathtaking scenery, and you are continuously challenging yourself.

Runroo: What your most memorable adventure?

JD: My most memorable adventure was trying Traditional Climbing for the first time. I am not really that good in rock climbing but when one of my climbing mentor, Pastor Noel, asked me to do it with him last year in Atimonan, I was so scared and excited all at once.  We did a multi-pitch traditional climbing in Veronica’s Arete (route name) on a Saturday morning. Pastor was the lead climber and I religiously followed him. Throughout the climb, I couldn’t dare look at the view behind me… because I know I am climbing a 120-foot natural rock wall!
climbingBut when I got on the top, the view was priceless… all those fears and sweats paid off.

Runroo: Your dream adventure?

To backpack across Europe – well at least in Spain, France, Belgium, Czech, Germany, Netherlands, and Denmark. My friend and I are planning to fulfill this dream two years from now (crossing fingers).

Runroo: What do you love about CDO? =)

JD: First – the people. They are all friendly and accommodating.

And, the outdoors: water rafting, biking, diving, and visit Mapawa Nature Park. You can enjoy a numerous activities in Mapawa.

With great people and great outdoors, Cagayan de Oro is definitely a perfect place for adventure-seeker individuals!

ROX has been supporting MAPAWA in the previous editions, what made it decide to give a bigger support this year by being its title sponsor?

JD: We saw the beauty of outdoors in CDO, and the growing of community of trail runners too. Since outdoor and building community of outdoor enthusiasts are our passion, it’s just natural for us to support this kind of events. And, seeing the passion of of MAPAWA Nature Park and the people behind MAPAWA Trail run to outdoors, there’s just no reason we will not support this event!

Runroo: Having experienced parts of the ROX MAPAWA Trail run route, what shoes can you recommend?

JD: Last year, I used my Salomon Speedcross trail running shoes. And, I really love it! So, I highly recommend any Salomon trail running shoes. They know trail running the best.
