“Your wellness can bring wellness to others!” – Theresians Batch 89
There was a pink overload last Friday (July 11, 2014) at Kublai Khan with the Theresians Batch 89 sharing their Wellness mission for the second edition of Wellness (Run) with Venus, July 20, 2014.
Fill up the Newbie / Beginner’s Cup
Last year’s Run for Venus, they had a 21KM distance category. But this year, there will be no 21K category. Instead, they will add 2 more categories: a 1KM Charity Walk category and a 3K-zumba challenge. They wanted to design this year’s event to cater more to those who want to get started in running, or being active.
But it does not mean that those who want a longer distance no longer have a place in the 2nd edition race. For those who love the half-marathon distance, you can still have the 12K category. And, it is your chance to share running to others. This will be your chance to fill up the cup of others.

According to Dr. Marivic Tan, the leading diseases recorded in Cebu are “metabolic diseases” (i.e. diabetes, high-cholesterol) in which an active lifestyle can be of big help. But still, it’s not a guarantee that being active already frees you from getting sick. Thus, Wellness with Venus offers a free health screening to each registered runner plus a beneficiary individual. For every registered runner, another indigent individual will also receive a free health screening.
“The organizing committee encouraged more participants to join the men’s and women’s 1K charity walk, 3K, 6K,12K distances as a registrant will not only get a chance to have a free health screening at the Ayala Terraces but could also sponsor someone from an adopted community to get health screening on a separate date.“Their participation will also give them a chance to help and support someone avail of a free health screening. Basically, a health screening will range from P3,000 to P8,000. Daku gyud ni og tabang,” said STC batch 1989 representaive Dr. Marivic Tan during yesterday’s press conference at Kublai Khan Ayala Center.” read more Run with Venus to give free health screening | Sun.Star.

Ms. Christine Ruedas, a Theresian, of Children and Adults in a Multitude of Play (CHAMPs) Therapy Centre was present during the press conference. Ruedas is a physical therapist, and as a way to give back to the community, she founded the CHAMPs Therapy Centre.
CHAMPs therapy centre offers the following services:
*Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation
*Medical and Surgical Assistance
*Educational Assistance and Tutoring
*Securing Assistive Devices
Their center is open to public. Runners who need help with their injury are very welcome also. They’re connected with the government agencies and private agencies, and also with volunteers to be able to provide services especially to the less-privileged individuals.
The proceeds they will receive from the Wellness with Venus Run will definitely be appreciated by the CHAMPs team, and other beneficiaries.
