Talisay City Runners Club (TCRC) was tapped by the Talisay City Government to help organizing the 1st Talisay City
Marathon (TCM) on August 17, 2014.
A month ago I was informed by our lovely president Dr. Jasmin Orlanes — aka Jazzor — to make a proposal for the full marathon route. At first I was hesitant as I have never been a part of planning an event but as a member of TCRC I have a duty (ahemmm) 😀
Eventually my proposed route — very flat version — was not approved as it has six turning points that might confuse runners and get lost and might have the advantage.
So the organizers has come up with a route that sure will test runner’s endurance for full marathon distance. You will have to go up the mountain with maximum 218m elevation and a maximum 24% elevation grade and NO, the hilly part is not at the beginning nor at the end but rather at KM 12.
On July 6 there will be a training/group run that will run through the hilly part of the official full marathon route to give the training participants a taste of how lung busting will it become on race day. Anybody can join the event. The pre-race group run details can be found here >>>.
I have already measured the full route on foot last week so on the next article, I will provide the full details of the route with photos so stay tuned and go pratice “HELL REPEATS” I mean Hill Repeats. In the mean time check the full marathon route here.
