Every year, alumni of Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu has annual homecoming celebration. They have a series of events leading to their main event in December. The different events organized by the Sacred Heart School Alumni Association’s for their annual homecoming are their way of raising funds for their sponsored projects. This year, Batch 89 alumni is heading the homecoming celebration.

One of their activities this year is the St. Ignatius Run this July 13, 2014 (more details here >>). Yesterday, I had the chance to join the press conference at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Ayala, Cebu — double shot cappuccino in town that does not fail to delight! =)

Definitely, the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu Alumni Association was in full force with their “Sacred Heart,” protected by St. Ignatius sword, armed with their Cebu Bionic Builders shield, and Beaver flipflops!

So the cast:

The Batch 89 president, Marcelino Co of MILCO Foods Cebu

Batch president was bringing with him some flipflops — Beaver slippers! No other best post-race footwear than good old Beaver slippers. So this coming St. Ignatius Run – July 13, 2014, a pair of Beaver slippers might be waiting for you at the finish line! =)

Marcelino Co, Batch 89 President

The Sacred Heart Alumni Association president, Franco Soberano of Cebu Landmasters

Aside from the upcoming St. Ignatius Run, this guy is behind some exciting developments in Cebu like one of their recent projects, Park Centrale in IT Park. For more about their real estate developments, you can check here >>.

Franco is a self-confessed occasional runner, and so watch out for our feature story of him soon! =)

The Batch 89 Official Athlete, Bernard Sia of Cebu Bionic Builders

Someone asked me why the beneficiary is the Yolanda victims. I guess unknown to most, this triathlete guy has been one of those helping out in rebuilding some homes in the North affected by the typhoon. And, we all know that there’s still a lot of things to be done in rebuilding. And, I guess because he’s naturally grow up around Builders. =)

There were more from Batch 89 who were there, which I failed to document. The best thing about it is that though we know that some of them are not really into running, but they’re there to give out their all-out support for the race, and to the end goal of being able to continue the social development works of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association.

The press conference was also joined by Coco Running’s Joel Juarez, the technical person behind this race and other Cebu races. With Coco Running and the SHS-AdC Batch 89, runners are definitely in good hands!

The friends from media were also there to help out in promoting the race. We mostly see their names on our local daily news, but seldom do we see their faces. So here they are:
