*** Soliano’s New 21K PR made at Amazon Festival Run (photos of this event here >>) After the successful Color Run-Cebu (check photos here >>), another fun-filled and colorful action took place with Kenyan Douglas Mwiti and Sandra Soliano’s colors revealing out well after ruling the premiere class of the Amazon Festival Run at the Ayala Center-Cebu’s The Terraces during Labor Day. Mwiti crossed the finish line way ahead of Sherwin Managuil after dealing 21-kilometers of action. Mwiti finished in one hour, 14 minutes and 11.94 seconds as against Managuil’s 1:21:05.85 while Jorry Ycong landed third in his 1:21:18.02. In the distaff side, Sandra Soliano enjoyed the absence of the country’s reigning marathon queen Mary Joy Tabal to win the women’s 21-km title. She finished in 1:43:44.55, a new PR for her in 21K distance.

Carla Cosep trailed Soliano with 1:48:14.06 clocking and Montesa Tuscano at third with 1:49:33.31. John Darryl Manus, on the other hand, won the 12-km division with 42:04.33 while James Mebei fell short to second place with 43:25.52 and Michael Largo on third

After ruling the National Age-Group Triathlon Series in Danao City, both Lim and Echavez-Lopez went to Bantayan Island to win the second leg of the Tri Team Championships Series in Sta.Fe. Two weeks after, Lim and Echavez-Lopez returned to the said island for another victory, this time in the municipality of Bantayan. Parklane’s Lim ranked no.1 overall with an hour, 50 minutes and 33 seconds clocking while Johnny Ferniz II placed second in 2:02:19 while Jefrey Codino came out third in 2:03:34. Echavez-Lopez of Omega Pro team, for her part, survived a tough bike course to win he women’s no.1 spot over Lou Galo while Rashell Cabrera came out third. Winners in the other classes were Franz Baguio and Emeralde Hermosilla (30-39), Romulo Rosell and Hazel Busa (40-49), Keith Ashley Ocampo and Wow Capampangan(18-29). *** Filipino Pro Joseph Miller Bounced Back at Xterra Malaysia After suffering hypothermia in the Australian waters last month, Joseph Miller bounced back with a seventh place finish in the premiere pro division of the Xterra-Malaysia last Sunday. Miller took advantage of the similarity with the weather condition in the Philippines to have a better showing and no longer the last. Miller was seventh behind Dan Hugo plus $400 as his prize. Two other Cebuanos also took part of the Malaysia action with Tenggoy Colmenares landing ninth in his class while Jose Merdino Lim experienced the worse thing he could imagine to him in the event, several flat tires that hampered his bid. Lim however, vowed to go back to Malaysia for the unfinished business. *** Another Pinoy Making a Mark in Malaysia Noel Tillor also had a good time in Malaysia as he came out the prince of the 2014 Borneo International Marathon. Tillor trailed Kenyan John Waithaka Njihia for the second place honors of the men’s open.

Tillor finished the 42-km action in only two hours, 49 minutes and 17.46 seconds, just a slight deficit from the Kenyan runner who finished in 2:46:39.24 as Malaysian Ruston Masri was third in his 2:59:20.71 clocking. *** Cebuanos in TNF (check TNF trail p0rn here >>) Back in the country,a bunch of Cebuanos dared and conquered this year’s The Northface Trail Run in Baguio City. Lope Noay, Rex Gonzales, Romeo Cordova III, Wendell Kwan, Jonathan Dungog, Roy Tacoloy and Willie Estepa finished the premiere 100-kilometer action. Daisy Batac, who opted for a 50-km action landed 10th in her division.

Couples Rhyze and Mary Anne Buac also had a good time together after finishing the 22-km division. *** Ramirez Bounced Back too in 7th Mayor’s Cup Run (photos here >>) After missing the half-marathon in May 1, Paris Marathon 17th placer Mary Joy Tabal joining and won this year’s Mandaue City Mayor’s Cup. Tabal opted to just do the women’s 15-km and won it in style. Tabal’s long-time running buddy and coach, Philip Duenas settled second in the men’s 21-km division won by Paul Zafico while Michael Largo was third. The men’s 15-km, on the other hand, saw Robert Daang on top followed by Joey Lee and John Daryl Manos. Mereeiz Ramirez also bounced back on top again after ruling the women’s 21-km over Sandra Sollano while Jean Andrin came out third.
