TDR80 Ultramarathon 2014: Battle of Team Singlets & Shorts shorts

Related Event: TDR80 Ultramarathon >>

Monkey-eating eagle may be extinct in Davao, but the warrior spirit of Philippine eagle lives on. And, this Saturday (March 15, 2014), it will be exhibited in the TDR80 Ultramarathon, organized by one of the local active groups TDR (Team Davao Runners). It is now in its 2nd edition, and is probably the first ultramarathon in Davao City that is becoming an annual event.

Here are few random things to look forward to in this event:

1. Eden Hill. It’s probably one of the signature parts of the race. It’s a 13KM continuous uphill. (See that last steep ascent in the image above.)

This is just not something to make the race challenging. But Team Davao Runners is sharing a tradition in their group. It started as a challenge for Jette Roy (TDR Founder) with few friends, which then became some sort of initiation rite before getting into the TDR group.

Then, TDR members, Jong Tujan and Grant Gutierez, came up with the idea of making an event out of it. Being known to be “hardcore,” they will first let you tour the beautiful Davao City before they will let you get into their “historical” landmark.

From a friendly challenge and “rite of passage,” a legacy is born out of Eden Hill, which can be a reflection not only of the personality of TDR, but of Davao City — read DUTERTE.

2. The TDR founder, Jette Roy Sanchez, will have its first ultra marathon experience in an official race. Surprise? Yes, it can be a big surprise for those who know well the TDR group because they’re very active in the ultramarathon scene.

3. Davao has that air of fierce friendly competition among running groups. And, in the ultramarathon scene, it’s TTD and TDR who are the buzz. Last year, male champ was Robert Dagaang of Team Titans Davao (TTD), while the female champ was a TDR.

TTD or TDR: Who will be the ruling team singlet this year? Or maybe there will be new challengers from other running group, or from other cities.

5. Stunning awardee? But for Garry Vhoy, Team Kapwa, the most thing to look forward to will be, who will do a “Jed sexy” act?

Best wishes to everyone! Make Duterte proud!
