For fun runs and other events organized by people in the running / fitness community for the benefit of Yolanda victims, here are some you can check:

For a start, Sarawayon Runners’ of Cebu organized an LSD (long slow distance) for a cause, “Dalagan Bulig Ha Leyte,” last Nov. 10, 2013. They were able to organize it faster than President Aquino was able to proclaim state of calamity (sorry for this unhelpful unnecessary comment). Despite the short notice, results were not short.

Big thanks to all those who have shared their time, effort & for sharing their blessings w/ us. Our LSD ‘run for a cause’ was truly successful. In just a very short notice (this event page was posted just last night, 6:30pm), we were surprised that we’re able to gather around 50 – 60 runners this morning. This undertaking have generated a total of P25,150.00 in cash donations (more pledges are coming in as of this writing), plus 5 boxes of noddles/bottled water & 5 bags of used clothing. This may be miniscule but this will surely come a long way for those who needed it most. We will be sending these to the Leyte victims (tacloban, ormoc, baybay & nearby towns) thru doc Alext Junia and doc Humility Melgar Igaña. Priorities will be given for basic medicines, medical supplies & mineral water in coordination w/ PNRC through their medical teams spread out in the province. We will still be accepting donations either in cash or in kind, and u can drop these off at the Coffeecat, IT Park, Cebu City.

Though some question the effectiveness of “fun runs” for a cause, but just like how it is in races, whatever little step still means moving forward. And, running has always have the therapeutic effect. Though, we are not directly hit but we cannot escape from getting worried for our friends and neighbors who are affected by the typhoon. Running can help us calm down, and be able to think more positive.
