Dr. Yong Larrazabal sets a new marathon PR (personal record) in Mountains 2 Beach Marathon in Ventura, California when he faced the media in a press conference. The said marathon is widely popular to marathoners wanting to get a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon, which has been a long-time goal of Dr. Yong. This is not his first time to get a Boston-Marathon qualifying time, and he is hoping to finally get in the race for next year. (For more about Dr. Yong Larrazabal’s Mountains 2 Beach Marathon race story, “Another mark in 46th marathon” published in Sun-Star >>.)
After Dr. Yong Larrazabal’s recent victory, he, together with other organizers, is now set to organize the popular longest running event in Cebu, the 11th University Run 2016 (UR11). As the tradition, it’s scheduled in August, around the time of CDU’s intramurals (but this is open to public).
A lot of “big numbers” were mentioned during the University Run 11 press conference. One of them was that Mountains 2 Beach Marathon was Dr. Yong’s 46th marathon, which I could not help but ask him if he’s age is greater than or smaller than the number of marathons he joined. It was probably rude of me to ask about age, but any how, Dr. Yong is always game.
I don’t know if he answered my age question or not, but does it really matter?!? =)
I believe what matters more is how he, together with his team, is able to inspire others to RUN in tirelessly organizing fun runs and marathons.

Now multiply it with 11 years, that’s quite a lot of runners — even if just only a few of those stayed with running for good.
And, more will be inspired to run as:

On the other side, University Run and other races by Run for Sight do not only help runners, but also other individuals (non-runners) who are recipient of community reach-out activities of Run for Sight together with their long-time partner, Sunsports, maker of quality sporting products.
It’s always a puzzle as to why busy people like Dr. Yong Larrazabal, Joel Juarez of Coco Running, Dr. Philip Larrazabal, and Sunsport’s Arnold Chuachuy keep on supporting and organizing running events. I guess it can be answered by Donna Cruz-Larrazabal comeback hit song, “A Love to Last.”
Running may not be like love. But it’s something that once you discover it, it will last with you forever. =)
Join now the beautiful 3-bridge challenge of University Run 11, and you might discover the forever that will last with you.
