Describe yourself:
The fat kid with chubby cheeks who doesn’t like to run.

Who is your triathlon crush?
Erwan Heussaff!

How did you start in triathlon?
Before the 2012 IM70.3, I never had interest in the sport, I didn’t want to go with my dad. But it was when I was watching near the finish line and saw almost all the triathletes and Erwan cross the finish line that made me say, “wow. I don’t just want to watch here anymore. I want to be a part of it!”

What is your motto in triathlon / life?
As much as possible, always finish what you have started. / If they can do it, so can you!

What is your racing ritual?
Stretch, and jump up and down because of the tension

Most embarrassing triathlon experience?
When I fell off the bike near the turning point. Haha!

Most memorable triathlon picture?

With my dad. ‘Cause it was my first win, and he woke up early everyday until race day to train with me. I’m too lazy to train alone so he goes with me.
What is the next race on your calendar?
Next weekend, May 25-26, in Bohol.

Cian will also be competing in the Tabuelan 111 Triathlon this coming June 16, 2013. Please watch out for more stories from this “Mermaid” Cian. Find out why she’s a mermaid on our next post about her.
