Yes, I’m talking about CCM 2013, which was just 3 months ago. But for those who run every weekend, it may seem centuries ago that some have finished xx number of marathons, training for their half-marathons and ultramarathons, became ultra runners, and so on.
So sorry, guys. I haven’t diligent about this promo. But before that, I would like to thank everyone who take time to use the web app for running we are currently building, aktib.ph. Without much further ado, here it is.
For CCM 2013 stories, we promise to pick 1 winner of story and 1 winner for the photographer who has the most pictures used in the stories.
Following are snippets from their Cebu City Marathon (CCM) 2013 stories shared at aktib.ph:
MY CEBU CITY MARATHON 2013 EXPERIENCE by Earl Bolivar (Malaybalay Runners)
(Malaybalay will staged a FREE race, Dinaganay sa Malaybalay, this March 16, check details here >>.)
“Overall, the race was well-organized race. I just hope that next year, the registration fees will be more affordable or at least it will not increase, the singlet will be made of better quality and 21K finishers will also be given medals.”
“…in the 35th km point im so thankful that im still strong and motivated in this marathon wall, i know i could do this in a sub 5hrs time! i told myself. so in the last 2km i ran strong and fast as i could to qualify for that target time and i did! I conquered the 2013 Cebu City Marathon in 4hrs 56 minutes and 48 seconds. not bad for me a first time marathoner.”
“3. Passed by a battalion of happy drunks at mango drive”
“In finishing I found myself left with an amazement of what the human feet can do and left asking myself how far can you run barefoot.”
“WHEN YOUR LEGS CAN’T RUN ANYMORE, RUN WITH YOUR HEART”.(1ST 42K SUB4) by Jezerel Bagz (RRC)
(Jezrel has been joining many fun runs, and has been consistently a top placer.)
“…this coming january 18 would be my 2nd monthsary in running. In short, I’m just a beginner.I haven’t experience yet running a 20k and above category in a race, the highest so far is just 16k. but in my CCM training, I already experience having a long run on the road. My RRC family most specially coach Ruth said that I am not supposed to run a 42k since I’m just new and too young for this category. But there’s nothing I can do since I already registered before they knew about it. So I said to myself that I will finish the race watever it takes. Only unconscious and cramps can stop me. As long as I can run, I will finish it.”
WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, WALK! by Nikki Nina Petralba
(Nikki is now an ultramarathoner. She recently joined and finished the AWUM.)
“I was cursing the marathon all throughout that last 19 kilometers of the travel! I swore to myself that I would never run a marathon again and CCM2013 will be my first and last!”
“…my biggest story in joining this year’s edition of the 21k was having attained my PR (2:47:32) slashing 55 minutes and having lost 20 solid libras (now, 180lbs) since last year’s edition (3:42:43).”
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO START..42K @ 42 by GARRY VHOY (Team Titans Davao)
(Garry had ran many marathons after CCM, and will be joinig the Team Davao Runners Ultramarathon this weekend. Goodluck!)
“I started running when I was 40 y/o and I promised to myself that I will run my 1st ever full marathon b4 I will reach my 42nd bday..in Cebu. why in Cebu? well, Cebu City has been a very special place for me it’s like our 2nd home..”

“We never dreamed of being runners. But now running become our obsession”

BAREFOOT IS MY BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT… by Richard Ytac
(I met Richard Ytac finally last Xterra Run. Unfortunately, he was not in barefoot.)
og sa dihang pag abot sa turning point 22km grabe kau ang support sa “UNGO RUNNERS” murag ga fiesta ilang station, nindut na kau dili ipadayon og dagan tungod sa ilang mga foods hehe…Og sa dihang pabalik naku sa SRP na feel na nku ang kainit sa dalan hilabina sa spaltu na mura og nag bukal but i continued running even if it is too hot already because i want to do it until the finished line.
“But i prayed, and because of this feeling of excitement that i have i finished the run with the official time of 2:16:09 for 21k and placed 116 among the men’s category. Until now i still have this feeling of excitement for the next CCM again. And planning to run for 42k for the next CCM.”
And, the WINNER is!!!!! RUN AND DISCOVER by TIFFANY VICK PONCE
“And now im staring at my finishers medal thinking that its not really this metal that makes my first marathon experience treasured. But its what i have discovered along.”
For the photographer, we have to pick Michael Ocana as the winner. Based on watermarks, he has the most pictures used in the stories.
